About Shay Rutledge, MA
I am currently in my fourth year of clinical training and have experience providing diagnostic assessments and treatment interventions for a variety of mental health conditions. I work with children, adolescents, and their families, addressing issues such as depression, anxiety, anger, PTSD, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. Additionally, I have experience in a university setting as a therapist at Vanguard University Counseling Center. There, I helped clients with PTSD, social anxiety, depression, suicide and self-harm, interpersonal problems, family conflict, romantic difficulties, eating disorders, and addiction.
Education & Training
I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and am currently a pre-licensed doctoral student in the Doctorate of Clinical Psychology program at the same institution. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with a minor in Ministry, from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York.

My doctoral research focuses on developing and identifying effective treatment interventions to reduce and address problematic pornography use in young adults. I am passionate about helping individuals who struggle with sexual impulses, experience deep shame as a result, and whose lives and relationships are impacted by these behaviors.

I strive to make each of my clients feel comfortable through my genuine interpersonal style and calm, steady demeanor. I believe in the importance of meeting clients where they are and fostering a collaborative relationship. Together, we work patiently and deliberately to achieve their identified goals.

In my free time, I am passionate about physical fitness, hiking, roller skating, and listening to R&B music. I value both my work and personal life, advocating for a healthy work-life balance and enjoying quality time with my family and friends.
